We are reimagining our multi portfolio to make it easier for individuals to understand which supplements to take – and why. It’s why we are splitting our Basic Nutrients III into Men’s Multi 50+ and Women’s Multi 50+.
Although the formulas will initially remain the same in both products, splitting Basic Nutrients III will allows us to personalize each formula for men and women as new research and ingredients are verified. INTERACTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS
5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) supplementation is not recommended concurrent with methotrexate cancer therapy, as it can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, this folate source has not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.
POTENTIAL INTERFERENCE WITH LAB RESULTS
Consumption of most daily multivitamins (30-60mcg biotin) poses NO risk to lab results. However, daily consumption of 5mg Biotin or more (greater than 160 fold of the 30 mcg daily recommended intake) may cause inaccurate results in many immunoassays. These include, but are not limited to, thyroid function tests, cardiac and tumor markers, serology tests and serum allergy IgE tests.
Although high doses of biotin may interfere with laboratory tests, biotin is quickly cleared from the body in most cases. For patients taking 5mg of biotin daily, blood level of biotin will return to within normal limits for laboratory testing within 3.5 hours of intake.
Biotin (Vitamin B7) is commonly found in over-the-counter multi-vitamins and supplements for hair, nails and skin improvement.
