Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) is naturally produced in the human body in very small amounts, but is also available in some foods. ALA's unique ability to function in both aqueous (water) and lipid environments, allows it to easily cross biological membranes to exert its actions. ALA is known to support the production of glutathione and to regenerate vitamins C and E as well as other antioxidants. Clinical trials have shown that ALA helps to promote the maintenance of healthy neural tissues, most notably in conjunction with its role in the support of proper glucose metabolism and cardiovascular function. Bioperine is a standardized pepper extract that is known to enhance the bioavailability of some nutrients.
