This highly effective supplement has been used safely in conjunction with hypertensive pharmaceuticals to maintain normal blood pressure. As blood pressure improves, as seen in over 80% of cases, the pharmaceutical(s) may be reduced accordingly, with the help of prescribing physician. With several years of experience with BPNatRelief, there has never been a reported problems with interference with a hypertensive drug or a reported side effect using this supplement. It is the unique (proprietary) formulation of this product, coming from centuries of use that makes it so effective and safe.

Many patients require only one capsule per day. It is always best to start low. The dose depends upon how severe one's hypertension is, whether prescription medicines are being withdrawn, and size of the patient. The effect of BP Nat Relief increases over several weeks in our experience. There are many female patients who only require one pill every other day to keep pressure in normal range. Once one has been on it for months, they may notice that if they skip several days that there pressure does not go high. Some will believe that they are 'cured' and no longer need treatment. This is not the case and their blood pressure will return to pretreatment levels.

Rauwolfia serpentina; General uses: high blood pressure, snake bite, fever, dropsy, nervousness, insomnia;
Reserpine is the active ingredient in the plant and is effective in lowering high blood pressure. It's been used in India and the East for thousands of years. It was the first drug used for high blood pressure in western medicine. Rauwolfia has been used for anxiety and psychosis because at higher doses it tends to calm a person and slow them down. Several studies have shown reserpine to be effective in helping people with Cushing's disease. Tardive dyskinesia, a side effect of certain antipsychotic drugs, has been helped with reserpine.
Sandal wood
Sandalwood The sandalwood powder is obtained from the sandalwood tree of Indian origin. The important property of this powder is being antimicrobial
Cardamom Cardamom belongs to the same family as ginger and turmeric. Cardamom has been used medicinally for thousands of years. It was popular in Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, India and China. It is renowned for its ability to help digestive and stomach disorders but is also used for other complaints, such as those listed below:
  • Cardamom can help relieve indigestion and intestinal gas.
  • In India it is used for chest disorders such as asthma and bronchitis.
  • Some say that cardamom is an excellent tonic and pick-me-up.
  • It also has diuretic properties.
  • Cardamom can relieve bad breath and can help clear up teeth and gum disorders.
  • The therapeutic properties of cardamom-oil have found application in many traditional medicines as antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant, stomachic and tonic.
  • Cardamom is a good source of minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells.
  • It is also an excellent source of manganese and iron. Manganese is a co-factor for the enzyme superoxide dismutase, which is a very powerful free radical scavenger. Iron is required for red blood cell formation.
Borage flowers
Borage flowers Borage seed oil, a product of the borage plant, is high in gamma-linoleic acid, abbreviated as GLA, an omega-6 fatty acid that is essential for maintaining good health. GLA acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent and can reduce airway inflammation. The borage plant--its leaves and flowers--is considered a natural diuretic and so helps your kidneys filter and expel excess fluids.
Pomegranate seeds
Pomegranate seeds Pomegranate' s high antioxidant content has also made researchers wonder if it could help in heart disease. Pomegranate juice seems to protect LDL cholesterol's damage . Some scientists think that damage to LDL cholesterol causes plaque to build up in arteries, so stopping the damage might help keep arteries clear. One study of mice with atherosclerosis found that pomegranate juice slowed the growth of plaque formation. And a few small studies in people found that pomegranate juice improved blood flow and kept arteries from becoming thick and stiff. However, more and better studies are needed to see exactly what benefit pomegranate juice might offer. Pomegranate is loaded with tannins, anthocyanins, polyphenolics and antioxidant vitamins, A, E and C, all of which have a health effect on the body. These elements work together to benefit the arteries, plus it keeps the cardiovascular system healthy which is the chief health benefit of Pomegranate.

There is some preliminary evidence that drinking pomegranate juice every day may help lower systolic blood pressure (the top number in a blood pressure reading). It has also been found to increase levels of nitric oxide, which improve blood flow to the heart, reduce arterial plaque, reduce systolic blood pressure and help in erectile dysfunction.
Rose petals

Rose petals The reasons for the diuretic effects of the roses are they contain Vitamin C, pectin, malic and citric acids.
  • It relieves fluid retention and hastens the elimination of wastes through kidneys
  • It is a wonderful remedy for dysentery, diarrhea and gastro enteritis
  • It has an uplifting effect on the nervous system and can relieve insomnia, depression and fatigue
Cinnamon bark
Cinnamon bark Cinnamon has long been used in traditional Asian medicine and is used for joint pain, heart palpitations, and dysmenorrhea. Cinnamon has strong antioxidant properties; its essential oil has reported antibacterial and antifungal properties in vitro. It has been shown to decrease smooth muscle contractions in the trachea and ileum, colon, and stomach. In a study of 54 human subjects, cinnamon tea increased total serum antioxidant status and decreased lipid peroxidation.
A recent trial reported reduced serum glucose, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and total cholesterol levels in 60 people with type 2 diabetes. There were beneficial effects on angina with negligible adverse effects
Cumin seeds Cumin seeds contain numerous phyto-chemicals that are known to have antioxidant, carminative and anti-flatulent properties. The seeds are an excellent source of dietary fiber.
This spice is an excellent source of minerals like iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, selenium, zinc and magnesium. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells. Iron is required for red blood cell formation. zinc is a co-factor in many enzymes that regulate growth and development, sperm generation, digestion and nucleic acid synthesis. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the powerful anti-oxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. It also contains very good amounts of B-complex vitamins such as thiamin, vitamin B-6, niacin, riboflavin, and other vital anti-oxidant vitamins like vitamin E, vitamin A and vitamin C
Fennel seed

Fennel seeds Anti-inflammatory benefit of the plant. It significantly increases the plasma superoxide dismutase and catalase activities and the high density lipoprotein-cholesterol level. These results seems to support the use of fennel fruit methanolic extract in relieving inflammation.
Fennel showed evidence of decreased levels of serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin, helping in liver disease.

What's in fennel herb? Many substances have been identified in fennel including estragole, hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives, flavonoid glycosides, flavonoid aglycons, quercetin, kaempferol, chlorogenic acid, eriocitrin, rutin, miquelianin, rosmarinic acid, and caffeoylquinic acid. Most of these substances in fennel are antioxidants.
Coriander seeds
Coriander seeds Coriander has been used as a flavoring agent and medicinal plant since ancient times. Across many cultures, coriander was historically used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as stomachache, indigestion and nausea. In parts of India, it has traditionally been used for its anti-inflammatory properties. In the United States, coriander has recently been studied for its cholesterol-lowering effects.
Control of Blood sugar, Cholesterol and Free radical production. Recent research studies (though still on animals) have confirmed all three of these healing effects. When coriander was added to the diet of diabetic mice, it helped stimulate their secretion of insulin and lowered their blood sugar. When given to rats, coriander reduced the amount of damaged fats (lipid peroxides) in their cell membranes. And when given to rats fed a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet, coriander lowered levels of total and LDL (the "bad" cholesterol), while actually increasing levels of HDL (the "good" cholesterol). Research also suggests that the volatile oils found in the leaves of the coriander plant, commonly known as cilantro, may have antimicrobial properties.

High Blood Pressure is a common reason to see a primary care doctor. The older you are, the more likely you will have this problem although I see many young persons with increased BP. Most of the time, patients have 'essential' hypertension which means there is no treatable secondary cause. Doctors are trained to prescribe medicine, weight loss and exercise for this condition. There IS more that can be done than this mainstream approach. In recent years, I became aware of the availability and efficacy of the herb Rauwolfia (snake root) from which an old Rx BP med was made before my time in medicine. The best source I have found of this is the herbal combination "BP Nat Relief". I have many patients who were able to wean off of their Rx BP meds completely by replacing it with BP Nat Relief at a dose of 1-3 per day. The max dose is 4 per day but I do not know that any of my patients have taken that regularly. A dose of one twice daily usually replaces a max dose Rx med but in some cases will replace 2 meds. The only side effect I have seen is sleepiness but that is rare. Most patients report a feeling less worry and anxiety on it. It is possible that nasal stuffiness can be caused by Rauwolia but the other herbs in this combination may prevent it. You MUST monitor your BP with this product and only stop Rx meds with the supervision of a doctor. Treat BP Nat Relief as a powerful Rx med.

Don't ignore elevated BP like many of my patients do. It is a silent killer increasing your risk of stroke, heart failure, atherosclerosis and heart attack.

My favorite Rx meds for elevated BP are ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin Receptor blockers like Cozaar. I will stop the other classes first if replacing them with BP Nat Relief. However, some BP meds serve dual purposes and this must be considered when stopping any Rx med. Therefore, a local physician should aid you in this transition.

Dietary modification is essential for optimum health. See my handout "Diet for Life", increase your intake of green leafy vegetables, lemon water, celery, and parsley.

BP Nat Relief The dose depends upon your current blood pressure. If your pressure is over 150 systolic, you may need one cap twice daily before meals or empty stomach. If your BP is under this, one cap daily will be all you need. The dose can be increased gradually up to 4 daily (2 twice daily) if the blood pressure is still over 140/90. Beware of LOW BLOOD PRESSURE with increased doses. If you are on a Rx medicine with a controlled BP, you will want to lower this dose over 1-2 weeks as you begin the BP Nat Relief at one twice daily simultaneously. The max effect will take more than a week. Increase the supplement as necessary to decrease BP. I have many patients on this supplement including patients who could not tolerate any Rx meds without tolerable side effects.

You MUST monitor your BP with this product and only stop Rx meds with the supervision of a doctor. Treat BP Nat Relief as a powerful Rx med.

Magnesium dilates arteries, helps with energy production and can prevent abnormal heart rhythms to name a few of its many functions. It can lower BP. It is a critical supplement to take to prevent heart disease and heart attack.

Coenzyme Q10 300 mg. One to two daily with a meal that has fat or oil. This is essential for mitochondria to produce energy from oxygen and to support a heart that is experiencing a higher work load. The heart may get by with less oxygen / blood delivery with higher levels of this nutrient. Statin drugs deplete CoQ10. Heart failure is improved dramatically with CoQ10. Don't be fooled by the mass marketing of Ubiquinol saying that this reduced form is superior to Ubiquinone (CoQ10). Ubiquinol is 'reduced' which is the opposite of 'oxidized' with the - none form. Ubiquinol is converted in the GI tract to the oxidized 'none' form anyway. Conversely, the cheaper Ubiquinone (CoQ10 we carry) is converted to the -nol form in 5 seconds of absorption. Don't waste your money on Ubiquinol (the bottom line).

Perfusia SR (a sustained release arginine): Dose: 2 or more tabs twice daily.Arginine is converted into nitric oxide which is important for the health of the endothelial lining of our blood vessels. It promotes dilation of blood vessels and can help angina, poor circulation and erectile dysfunction and hypertension. (It can help lower BP.) The sustained release gives more steady levels around the clock vs. the straight powder form.

Powdered L-Arginine A cheaper but less convenient way to dose arginine as it is not sustained release. 1000 mg four times daily is a reasonable dose.

Hawthorne extract (for dose see bottle). The antioxidants including OPC's in this herb can help BP, blood flow and a weak or failing heart.

Massage and possibly chiropractic adjustments.
